Dr. Hakan Karaosman is an internationally experienced sustainability management professional and academic researcher focusing on fashion supply chain sustainability. Previously, he was a sustainability consultant, assisting companies in terms of their carbon footprint and social responsibility performance.
He is currently pursuing an academic career to spread ethical and environmental responsibility across fashion supply networks by overcoming mismatches between theoretical and practical approaches.
He holds BSc. in Environmental Engineering, MSc.in Management in Engineering of Energy and Environment and double degree Ph.D. in Industrial Management. He has written several academic papers as well as book chapters, industrial reports and essays on fashion supply chain sustainability.
He is the principal researcher of Sustainable Luxury Academy, an observatory research project organized by POLIMI, assistant curator of State of Fashion 2018 – Searching for New Luxury (the first-large scale international public event dedicated to fair fashion), academic partner for the Sustainable Thinking of Salvatore Ferragamo, project expert for apparel and footwear supply chain transparency and traceability project developed by the United Nations, organizer of many industrial engagement events, and knowledge partner for A New Awareness.
He is currently investigating trade-offs and tensions between social, economic and environmental sustainability in the context of fashion supply management
